Judy Ryde

Marianne Fry Lecture Judy gave the Marianne Fry Lecture this year in July and the subject is ‘White Identity in Psychotherapy: Can dialogic, intersubjective psychotherapy help white people work more effectively in a racialized context?’

The Marianne Fry Lectures began after her death in 1998. Her friends and students wanted to perpetuate, for the benefit of later generations of Gestalt therapists and trainees, the values and interests of a distinguished and beloved Gestalt trainer. The lectures – of which there have been five so far, focus notably on the relationship between Gestalt and spirituality, Germany and the Holocaust, dialogue, and family therapy. The website address is www.mariannefrylectures.co.uk

Conferences Two workshops on the theme of whiteness in counselling, psychotherapy and the helping professions are also being given at conferences put on by Psychotherapists and Counsellors for Social Responsibility:

Psychotherapy and Politics: Realising the Potential at Strathclyde University on 8th and 9th May 2009.
