I have contributed chapters to "Passionate Medicine", edited by Robin Shohet, published by Jessica Kingsley. I am a senior clinical teaching fellow at the School of Medicine at Southampton, where I am responsible for developing a programme on Holism and Patient Centred Care for Medical Students. I am enthusiastic about developing supervisory processes for healthcare professionals and regularly run both one-to-one and group supervision for doctors.
I have integrated working with supervision and use 'supervisory tools' into consultancy for organisations and have a special interest in working with social enterprises that are growing through challenging times. I work mainly in London and around the south coast (Winchester, Bournemouth, Oxford and Chichester). Dr David Owen is developing a course on Reflective Practice for Organisation Consultants which will be based in Winchester. He and 2 colleagues are running a one day introduction to their work in London on the 29th April 2009. David is running a workshop on Teaching Reflective Practice for University staff at the School of Medicine University of Southampton in March 2009. He is continuing to offer group supervision for general practitioners and currently runs a slow open group for doctors that meet in Winchester 5 days a year.
David and 2 colleagues are offering individual and group supervision for organisation consultants and coaches. The focus is support and personal transformation through working with challenging clients and difficult issues. An article by David 'Seeing the Whole, the need for supervision has recently been published in the Journal of Holistic Health.
